Engineered wood is more frequently pre-finished, has beveled edges, is very rarely site-finished, and is installed with glue or as a floating installation. This allows it to be used in all applications whether it be nail down, glue down or floating. Engineered wood can be installed over radiant floor heating safely with both the glue down and floating applications. Overall it is a much more structurally sound material and handles climate, temperature and moisture change much better than solid woods.
Engineered wood flooring has other benefits beyond dimensional stability and universal use. Additionally, patented installation systems allow for faster installation and easy replacement of boards.
